Lauren shared her journey with us by asking this question at AskTheEggWhisperer.com: “Can antibiotics for endometritis help with recurrent miscarriage? I’ve been going through recurrent pregnancy loss, and have been going through testing to figure out a cause. We came up with a diagnosis of endometritis and I went through a round of antibiotics. Are there essential lifestyle changes I should also be making to lower my risk of yet another miscarriage? Could it really be as simple as a few weeks of antibiotics?” Tune in to hear my answer, and the answers to over 20 other questions (all from listeners and followers!). I think Lauren should look at all the possible reasons for recurrent miscarriages. I have created a recurrent miscarriage workup called the ANGEL workup : Here’s what it involves: A (Age, Autoimmune testing, and Anatomy): Make sure you've done autoimmune tests looking at antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. Do an AMH test to make sure you have looked at your ovarian reserve to help you understand your egg quality. Consider an anatomic evaluation, looking at your uterus to make sure you have ruled out a uterine septum. N: Nutrition. Optimal pregnancy outcomes are dependent upon the intake of adequate nutrients including folic acid, iron, vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and zinc. G: Genetics: a chromosome analysis for you and your partner, carrier screening and a sperm DNA fragmentation testing can be helpful tests. E: Endocrine abnormalities: Rule out diabetes and thyroid issues. L: Look at your lifestyle, including body size, medications you are taking and your habits to make sure that you're as healthy as possible. And yes! Endometritis can contribute to miscarriages and treatment can help but I think it’s very important to look at all other causes too.
