Schizophrenia is the most serious disorder we have in psychiatry. It is much more than hallucinations. It’s an illness where the person’s main problem is being psychotic. With psychosis, you are not able to tell what’s real and what’s not real. There are five main areas of symptoms in schizophrenia: delusions, hallucinations, disorganized thinking, disorganized behavior and negative symptoms. You need two of the five present at the same time and occurring for at least a month.
