From Nandi and Malolo LaiLai we sailed around to Suva, the eastern capital of Fiji. Along the way we stopped at a few resorts, meeting up with visiting family travelling by hire car. we enjoyed doing the "tourist thing" at the resorts like watching their tourist oriented shows. In Suva we initially anchored at the Royal Suva Yacht Club, but later moved around to what was then called the Tradewinds Hotel. They were very welcoming to cruising yachts and their crew and the maritime environment was very pleasant. While in Suva we went down to see the "Firewalkers of Fiji", more correctly called the Firewalkers of Beqa Island where the tradition comes from. In a biased way I didn't think they were near as impressive as the Firewalkers of Rabaul, again more correctly called the Baining Fire Dancers. Finally we return to the Nandi and Lautoka side if Fiji and say goodbye to visiting family in Nandi. Then to Lautoka to see an ethnic Indian Dance Concert before Clearing through customs to exit Fiji. Then back down to Malolo LaiLai to recover our breath and prepare for the crossing to New Caledonia Remember that all photos are digitised from 50 year old 35mm slide film.
