Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday said that a premium train service connecting Bengaluru and Mumbai will start soon. Addressing a press conference, Vaishnaw said Karnataka has received a record Rs 7,748 crore in the railway budget this year, nearly nine times the allocation during the Congress-led UPA government. He added that total railway investment in the state stands at Rs 52,950 crore, covering track creation, station redevelopment, safety works, announcements, Bengaluru suburban rail, and several new projects. The minister said multiple sections are being doubled, paving the way for more services. He also said testing and certification are underway for electrification of the Bengaluru–Mangaluru Vande Bharat route, with details to be shared soon. On high-speed rail corridors linking Bengaluru with Chennai and Hyderabad, announced in the Union Budget, Vaishnaw said the projects would connect major South Indian economies and significantly boost regional growth. He also said work on the Bengaluru suburban rail project has gained momentum after the appointment of a railway officer as Managing Director of K-RIDE. #ashwinivaishnaw #indianrailways #bengaluru #mumbai #premiumtrain #railwayprojects #vande bharat #suburbanrail #infrastructure #ptinews #ptivideos #presstrustofindia Subscribe to PTI's YouTube channel for in-depth reports, exclusive interviews, and special visual stories that take you beyond the headlines. #PTIVideos PTI News : ptinews.com PTI Fact Check : ptinews.com/factcheck/factcheck.aspx PTI X (formerly Twitter): https://x.com/PTI_News PTI Instagram: / ptinews_multimedia PTI Facebook: / presstrustofindia
