We consider this document essential. It’s fundamental to GDPR compliance and forms the basis for everything that follows. That’s why, when entering the Data Protection and GDPR area, the first section we see is processing activities. Functionally, it’s simple to use. In this example, I have 313 processing activities mapped. You can edit visible columns or apply filters — for instance, to view only HR-related activities. Opening a specific activity, such as job applications, you’ll be guided step-by-step through what to document. On the right, you’ll see sections built from best practices across hundreds of customers — covering not only what’s legally required, but also what’s useful for broader compliance and efficiency. If you identify any gaps, you can create a task directly from the step, assign a deadline, and designate the responsible person — e.g. the person in charge of that ROPA. As you near the end of the process, it’s important to decide how often your processing activities should be reviewed. We recommend at least annually — and that you document the review. For example, Karen (responsible in this case) would mark it as reviewed and up to date. Even better is integrating ROPA updates into your ongoing workflows. That way, if something changes — like your job application process — you update the ROPA immediately instead of waiting for the next review cycle. Back in the overview, it’s easy to generate a PDF for external or internal purposes. Select the relevant activities, click “Download PDF,” and you’ll receive a clean, readable document ready to share. And that’s how we work with processing activities in Wired Relations. #WiredRelations #ROPA #GDPR #ProcessingActivities #Compliance #PrivacyManagement #GRCSoftware #Dataprivacy #DocumentationTools
