Webinar 192 Exploring the dark sector at accelerators with skipper-CCDs Speaker: Brenda Aurea Cervantes Vergara Fermilab, USA Host: Carla Bonifazi, Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Fisicas, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Abstract: Skipper-CCDs are silicon ionization detectors capable of counting individual electrons, making them a powerful technology for searches for feebly interacting particles. In dark sector searches, skipper-CCD experiments have set leading constraints on sub-GeV dark matter interacting with electrons, demonstrating the potential of this technology. Millicharged particles (mCPs), carrying a fractional electric charge, provide a well-defined benchmark for such searches. Arising naturally in extensions of the Standard Model with hidden sectors and additional gauge symmetries, mCPs could be produced at accelerator facilities through several mechanisms in potentially observable numbers. In this talk, I will briefly review the skipper-CCD technology and its use in dark sector searches, and present the status and prospects of two efforts that deploy skipper-CCD detectors to search for mCPs at accelerator facilities: the Dark BeaTS experiment at MINOS (Fermilab), and the Moskita setup at the LHC (CERN). Together, these efforts provide valuable input for future accelerator-based dark sector searches using skipper-CCDs. #lawphysics #webinar
