Trans-Taiga Road

A video of our drive on the Trans-Taiga Road to reach Caniapiscau Reservoir, Quebec, in October, 2021. It was a long and tough road but extremely enjoyable and fun. From the beginning of the Trans-Taiga Rd. to Brisay we found a fairly decent gravel road. From Brisay to Caniapiscau it is a bit rougher, but that is why we drive to places like this. Caniapiscau is the most remote drivable place in North America, it is over 700 km from the nearest town. So, pay attention to your vehicle driving range and the distances to the next gas supply. We found that Mirage Outfitters was the only place with gasoline on the Trans-Taiga. According to some websites there are a couple more but they were not 'open' or 'functioning'. I assume that they are outdated resources. We also drove to Longue Pointe on James Bay, west of James Bay Rd., that has about 100 km of gravel road and crossing La Grande 1 Reservoir Dam was fun. We still drive our 2016 Jeep Rubicon that has taken us to: Quebec 389, Trans Labrador, across NFLD a couple times and made it to Tuktoyaktuk through the Alaskan Hwy and Dempster Hwy.
