Electrical resistivity is a fundamental property of a material that measures how strongly it resists electric current, such as pure water which is an insulator. A low resistivity indicates a material that readily allows electric current. Resistivity is commonly represented by the Greek letter ρ. Resistance is defined as the opposition to the flow of electrical current through a conductor. There are four factors that influence the resistance in a conductor.
