Today we walked from Caldas de Reis to Padrón. The walk from Caldas de Reis to Padrón is a picturesque and historically rich segment of the Camino Portugués, covering approximately 19 kilometers. Padrón is renowned for its connection to St. James. In the church of Santiago resides “el Pedrón” in which, according to the legend, the disciples of the apostle Santiago moored the boat that transported the mortal remains of the apostle once they arrived to the coasts of Padrón after sailing the river Ulla. The Camino Portugues, also known as the Portuguese Way, is one of the various routes of the Camino de Santiago, a network of pilgrimage routes leading to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain.
