In this video I go over what I took to hike the presidential traverse in one day. I had planned for this hike to take only one day, starting early in the morning and finishing midafternoon. most people take two or three days to cover this trail staying in the huts along the way or camping in the designated areas. If you're going to attempt a single day hike here is a good representation of what I would recommend you bring to ensure you have what you need to make it through. The only factor that needs to be considered is your hiking pace and how are you going to get back to your car. I parked at the valley way trailhead at the base of Mt. Madison and paid for trail angle hiker shuttles to come and pick me up. Their last pickup at the AMC center is 4 pm and its $90.00 for the trip back to the Appalachia parking lot. Ideally you would have someone picking you up so your time is flexible or if you're hiking with a friend or partner and you have two cars you can leave one at each trail end and that solves the issue. There are no uber drivers, there are some cards posted at the appalachia keyosk for trail angels that may have a more flexible schedule for pickups, otherwise you will either need to get a room at the AMC center for the night or try and hitch a ride which today I cannot recommend.
