By Pstr.Russel Ocampo / @russelocampo Today's Devotion: 365 Daily Devotions: Bible Character Edition 💁🏻 Jacob’s Marriage to Leah and Rachel – God’s Design and Human Failure Jacob wanted to marry Rachel because he loved her. He worked seven years for her, but on the wedding night, Laban deceived him and gave Leah instead. Later, Jacob also married Rachel. This family began with love, but also with lies, favoritism, and pain. Jacob’s marriages show us God’s design for marriage, and also where people make serious mistakes. Even so, God did not abandon Jacob. God worked through this broken situation to continue His promise. This story reminds us that God’s plans move forward even when people fail, but sin always brings sorrow. 📖 Bible Readings: Genesis 29 (Hosea 12:3–5, Hebrews 12:11, Psalm 46:10, 2 Corinthians 12:9) 👨🏻💻 Teachings: 1. What is legal or cultural does not always mean moral. 2. Marriage is designed for one man and one woman. 3. Complicated relationship is not beyond redemption. 💪🏼 Applications: 1. Do not deceive otherwise you will be deceived. 2. Entrust your relationship to God for redemption. 3. Make a promise to be faithful to only one spouse. 🎙 Discussion: Why should we based our morality on the Bible and not on culture? 🤿 Dive Deeper: 1. What is the importance of the Twelve Tribes of Israel? 2. Where are the ten lost tribes of Israel? 🙏🏼 Prayer: Father God, I see myself in Jacob. I often try to fix things on my own and hold tight to control. Sometimes You allow struggles that leave me weak, and I don’t like that. But today I see that You are not against me—you are working in me. Teach me to stop running and start trusting. Help me cling to You, even when it hurts, because I know You bless those who depend on You. Change my heart, not just my situation. I want to walk with You, not ahead of You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
