Granny is in the salsa aisle snatching jars off the shelf one by one. 🫙👵💥🌶️ 📌 Today’s Verse: “You are the salt of the earth.” Matthew 5:13 👨🍳 Copycat Pace Picante Sauce (Classic Mild Style) Makes: about 700 g (roughly 1 jar) Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 25 minutes Total Time: about 35 minutes 🥣 Ingredients • Crushed tomatoes 800 g (about 28 oz) • Yellow onion, finely diced 120 g (about 1 cup) • Jalapeño, seeded and finely minced 15 g (about 1 tbsp) • Garlic, minced 6 g (about 2 cloves) • White vinegar 30 g (2 tbsp) • Sugar 10 g (about 2 1/2 tsp) • Kosher salt 8 g (about 1 1/2 tsp) • Ground cumin 1.5 g (about 1/2 tsp) • Chili powder 1 g (about 1/2 tsp) • Paprika 1 g (about 1/2 tsp) • Black pepper 0.5 g (about 1/4 tsp) • Cornstarch 6 g (about 2 tsp) • Water 30 g (2 tbsp) 🥄 Instructions Build the base Simmer crushed tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and garlic over medium heat. Season Stir in vinegar, sugar, salt, cumin, chili powder, paprika, and pepper. Simmer Reduce to medium low and simmer uncovered 20 to 25 minutes until onions are fully softened. Thicken Mix cornstarch and water, stir in, cook 1 to 2 minutes. Blend slightly Pulse blend briefly. Do not puree smooth. Keep it gently chunky. Cool Cool fully.
