🧑🏼‍🦯The Blinders Effect in the Dismissive avoidant! A full explanation so bear with me. 🤔While some may view this effect as selfishness there is actually a scientific explanation for why they seem to “ignore” your cues for emotional connection. •Because the Dismissive Avoidant grew up with a substantial amount of childhood neglect or most likely were pushed into hyper independence at a young age, this caused an anxiety to self. In other words they tend to become hyper-fixated on tasks or issues that deal with them, and them alone. 😕 🫂For the partner of the DA this can be both confusing and very painful. At times it may feel like your partner doesn’t care about you at all. • I have to preface this with, this is NOT a reason to put up with crappy behavior, and boundaries do have to be set, what I want the partner of the DA, and frankly the DA themselves to understand, is that it’s not a want issue, it’s a capacity issue. Their brains never learned how to deal with the emotions of others because they were too busy having to emotionally attune to themselves at a very young age. Since most children don’t understand emotional attunement this usually caused them to suppress and distract. •This explanation is the basis and root description of how attachment is formed and then evolves into our adult relationships. 🫂My heart feels for the DA, they simply don’t know what they don’t know. My heart also feels for their partners. It is the MAIN reason I started doing this work. I experienced this type of pain myself and I was able to help myself, and in turn wanted to help others.
