Thinking of trying Barclay Parkrun in Hoddesdon? Here is the full winter course guide with everything you need to know before you visit. I ran Barclay Parkrun on 29 November 2025 on the winter course, which is completely on path. Most of it is clear, but some sections have leaves and a bit of slippery footing this time of year. The winter route is definitely tougher than the summer version and includes four big laps around the lake, followed by two smaller laps, before heading back to the start. That also means you take on the incline four times, which is always an interesting experience on tired legs. Barclay has held almost 500 events and is ranked the 637th hardest parkrun in the UK. The course record is a shade over 16 minutes, which is seriously impressive given the terrain. The average finish time is 30 minutes 57 seconds. What to expect: • A tougher parkrun with repeated hills • Scenic laps around the lake • Friendly volunteers and a strong community feel • Parking on nearby roads • Toilets near the main park entrance • Not too busy and well organised • A good challenge whether you are local or visiting If you are close to Hoddesdon, I definitely recommend trying both the summer and winter courses at least once, as they feel like two completely different parkruns. If you enjoyed the video, check out my other course guides and let me know in the comments which event I should visit next. #ordinaryrunners #parkrunuk #parkrunrated #barclayPark #hoddesdon
