Thinking about trying Gunpowder parkrun for the first time? This full course walkthrough gives you everything you need to know before you go. This is the third video in my parkrun guide series, following Harlow and Roding. My aim is to upload one course guide each week so you can get a real feel for what each event is like and decide which one to visit next. Today I was at Gunpowder Parkrun in Waltham Abbey, Essex, just off Junction 26 of the M25. It is easy to get to, well organised, and completely run on paved paths. The course has recently been reversed after years of running the opposite direction, and with more than 650 events held here, it is a solid favourite for many runners. What to expect: • Two laps plus a short finishing section • Mostly flat and good for PB attempts • Paid parking at the venue or free street parking nearby • Friendly volunteers and a simple, well marked route • Toilets by the main building • Course record: 14:32 • 211 runners today despite the soggy weather For this video I let my son do the filming. He is much quicker than me, so you get a smooth view of the course and the occasional glimpse of me huffing along on the other side.
