How We Transformed UFV’s Most Challenging Room for Audio

Inside the University of the Fraser Valley’s Gathering Hall, we worked with UFV to solve a unique challenge. A circular, multi-use room with no defined front, hard reflective surfaces, and a wide range of events from Indigenous programming to music to large community gatherings. The old point source speakers could not distribute sound evenly and created major clarity issues, especially for elders and anyone sitting with the speakers behind them. So together we designed a full architectural audio system using discreet L-Acoustics X4i loudspeakers, custom placements inside wood channels, premium DSP, and a flexible mic workflow that the university can self manage. We also integrated a full multi camera video system using a Roland switcher, Grandview screens, PTZ control, and Sennheiser wireless solutions. The result is a room that sounds as good as it looks and adapts instantly to whatever the community needs. This video is longer and more value packed but not as flashy.
