On a windy, cold and dreary weekday, it was a real tonic to hear a selection of pieces of music from these two talented musicians. Both are Scots, and both are also music and performance honours graduates - Serenna from the University of Edinburgh and then the Royal College of Music - Joshua from the University of Durham and then Trinity Laban Conservatoire. Serenna currently specialises in performance and community music, and also teaches the flute and piano. As well as performing together as a Duo, Serenna and Joshua both also played solo pieces, showing their individual talents, which demonstrated that - not only is Serenna a very accomplished flautist - but Joshua is far more than a sympathetic and capable accompanist; he has a wonderful skill as a solo pianist. The programme of music Serenna and Joshua chose to perform today was as follows: Mélanie Hélène Bonis (1858–1937) - Two pieces: 1. Une flûte soupire, Op. 121 (recorded here) 2. ? (T.B.A.) ..................... Followed by: ..................... Thank you Joshua and Serenna for voluteering you time and skills to share your lovely music with the hospital community. You will be welcome to return whenever your schedule allows.
