The Camino Inglés, or English Way, runs from Ferrol to Santiago de Compostela. At around 112 kilometres, it's the shortest of the Camino routes to qualify for a Compostela certificate, and can comfortably be walked in a week. Before leaving Ferrol pilgrims must purchase their pilgrim passport, and obtain stamps from bars, churches and albergues along the route. At least two stamps a day are needed to qualify for the Compostela. Dormitory-style accommodation for passport holding pilgrims is available at public albergues, although it is first come first served! The Camino Inglés, like all the Caminos, is well-waymarked and signposted - it's almost impossible to get lost. ‪‪‪‪@RamblingRevRachel‬ ‬and I walked the Camino Inglés over six days in early October 2024 and we'd highly recommend it. I can honestly say the experience was life-changing. It's far more than just another hiking trail. It was dark and pouring with rain when we left the albergue, and the bright lights of a café opposite enticed us in for breakfast. Miraculously it had stopped raining when we finished and we walked the rest of the day in bright sunshine. We followed undulating roads through small hamlets, watching people work the fields as they have done for centuries, and enjoying sweeping views. The next part of our route took us through delightful woodland, including the Enchanted Wood, which we both loved. Then it was time to reach the suburbs of Santiago de Compostela, and thread our way through the streets, which became increasingly crowded as we reach our final goal - the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
