Filmed on a cold and windy October day in the lower parts of the Geirlandsá river at Battle Hill Lodge, I share how I use a floating line with a long tapered leader to cover a wide range of fishing conditions—from fishing shallow to getting deep into channels. We look at how to present the streamer in different current speeds, how to control the speed of the fly relative to the fish, and when and why to use techniques like the "streamer mend" to delay or enhance your presentation. Throughout the session, I explain how small adjustments in casting angle, retrieval speed, and upstream mending can make a big difference in triggering strikes. The fishing didn’t disappoint either—this day turned into one of the most memorable I've had in Iceland, topped off by landing one of the biggest trout of my life.
