For the second session of the 2019 EULawSD webinar series, Gabriela A. Oanta, Associate Professor of Public International Law at Universidade da Coruña, delivered a lecture on whether the European Union's current approach to negotiating Fisheries Partnership Agreements with third countries can contribute to (or undermine) global efforts to achieve SDG 14 on 'Life Below Water'. *** Gabriela A. Oanta is an Associate Professor of Public International Law and International Relations at the University of A Coruña (Spain). She currently holds the position of Director of ‘Salvador de Madariaga’ University Institute of European Studies within the same university. Gabriela is in charge with the coordination of the Jean Monnet Module on "European Union's Integrated Maritime Policy". She has been a member of Working Group I of MARSAFENET (http://www.marsafenet.org) since 2012 as well as a member of different research groups and projects financed by various international and Spanish research institutions. Since 2008, her research has been focused on international law of the sea, the EU Common Fisheries Policy and international development law.
