The first FILIT evening is dedicated to the literature and reality of the war in Ukraine, with writers Olena Herasymiuk and Pavlo Matiusa as guests. The meeting hosted by Robert Șerban also includes the launch of the collective volume of stories "Defense Mechanisms", conceived and published by the MNLR Publishing House Iasi, 2025. Olena Herasymiuk 🤘 Poet, veteran and civic activist, in 2014 she took part in the Revolution of Dignity. 📚 She is the author of the books: "Prison Song", "Execution Calendar", "Deafness". 🇺🇦She is the first representative of Ukraine at the World Slam Poetry Championship (2025), laureate of the "Taras Melnyciuk" Award (2024), as well as the "Oles Honciar" Award. 🫶 Along with writer Ievhen Lir, she is the coordinator of the Nedopysani project - a project to commemorate the fallen men of letters who were victims of the Russian invasion. For her acts of courage, she was awarded the decorations "For the Life Saved" and "Knight's Cross" of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army. 💚 Pavlo Matiușa is coming to FILIT 2025! 🤘 Poet, prose writer and translator, Pavlo has a PhD in philology and a master's degree in business administration. 🇺🇦 He worked in the field of parliamentary diplomacy within the Supreme Rada of Ukraine. 📚 In 2020, he published the novel "Coquelicot", and a year later the short prose volume "Circle with a Dot". ✊ At the beginning of the large-scale invasion in 2022, he voluntarily enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. His essays on the war were published in magazines in France and the United States. Together with his wife, Victoria Matiușa, a translator and literary agent, he is the author of the volume "Lettres d'amour et de guerre", published in 2024 in France, by the "l'Iconoclaste" publishing house.
