Went to one of my most favorite places and spent hours just watching the waves, seeing the sun glitter through the trees, wading in the brackish water and collecting driftwood. The autumn equinox (Mabon) feels like a bittersweet goodbye to warmth and light as the days grow cooler and the nights grow longer. The light and the warmth will return, but so begins the path through the darkness of winter. My little wildling heart is full of turmoil, and so facing the coming cold and dark felt especially difficult. I celebrate the solstices, equinoxes and cross quarter days for so many reasons. In a world where work, and hustling, never ends, never pauses, the months can fly by and suddenly a whole year is gone in what feels like an instant. Celebrating the wheel of the year is an invitation to being present, to noticing, to joy, and to learning what lessons the seasons have to give us.
