There are a lot of things to keep in mind when you visit Vintgar Gorge. I'd recommend an e-bike to give you a boost going up the hills to Vintgar Gorge. It's only a few miles, and the bike path goes through pretty countryside. I wish I'd known it was a one-way walking loop down the bridges in the gorge. Make sure you take all of your photos on the way in, because that will be your only chance. The hike out was longer than expected. A lot of people were struggling, so bring a lot more water than you think you'll need. Also, make sure to buy your tickets online before your visit so you don't have to wait in the long line to get in.
