Who has the loudest voice in your life when you are making decisions? Every man is surrounded by voices telling him how to live, what to believe, and what choices to make. Some voices encourage us. Some flatter us. Others simply confirm what we already want to hear. But the question Scripture forces us to confront is this: Are we truly seeking God’s truth, or are we just surrounding ourselves with voices that agree with us? In this study from 1 Kings 22, we begin a powerful series that exposes something deeply human—the tendency to resist God’s truth while gathering voices that make us comfortable. King Ahab surrounded himself with 400 prophets who all told him exactly what he wanted to hear. Yet there was one man, the prophet Micaiah, who was willing to stand alone and speak the truth of God no matter the cost. This passage reveals three critical realities that every man must wrestle with: the reluctance to seek God’s truth, the danger of comfortable lies, and the courage required to stand alone for what is right. Ahab represents the man driven by pride and ambition who only wants encouragement and affirmation. Jehoshaphat shows us the danger of compromise, even when we know better. And Micaiah demonstrates what true biblical manhood looks like—a man who fears God more than he fears the crowd. This message challenges us to examine our own lives. Are we asking God for His will before we make our decisions, or are we simply asking Him to bless what we have already decided? Are the voices around us speaking truth, or just reinforcing what we want to hear? In a world full of noise, popularity, and spiritual compromise, God is still looking for men who will say what Micaiah said: “As the LORD lives, whatever the LORD says to me, that I will speak.” (1 Kings 22:14)
