Baby Thunder was part of an expansion west of the Gad Valley side of the resort in 1995 built as a double from Doppelmayr. It added new beginner and intermediate terrain, and it came with an expansion of more expert terrain off Gad 2 where Baby Thunder is used to get out. The lifts speed isn’t the most ideal at 300 fpm, also since a lot of beginner tend to flock to that area because of its isolation. It has a cool vault drive on top, a bit rare in Utah for a fixed grip nowadays. Baby Thunder has the lowest elevation of not just Snowbird but all the Cottonwoods a little less than 7,800 feet, so it therefore is one of the first areas to close for the season every year. Baby Thunder is a cool lift but it could be a bit more sped up, and I think it’s gonna stay for a bit longer for the future. Capacity: 1,200 per hour Ride Time: 6.5 minutes Vertical Rise: 636 ft Length: 1,966 ft Towers: 8 Carriers: 92 Design Speed: 425 fpm Speed day of recording: 300 fpm Filmed February 22nd 2025
