I didn’t realize how uncomfortable doing nothing was for me until I moved to Bali. In the US I was always busy doing something so having time to do nothing was stressful and overwhelming. I felt like if I wasn't moving, thinking, planning, that I wad lazy or being unproductive. It has taken me a long time to sit still for even one minute without scratching, moving, getting lost in my thoughts, or distracting myself. In this video, I share a bit about what I noticed when I stopped, and how settling my body also helped my mind to slow down and relax. Then I invite you to try the same thing: sitting still and resting for as long as feels right for you. There are gentle bells at 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, and 20 minutes. You can stop whenever you need to. This isn’t meditation. There’s nothing to achieve. It’s just a chance to notice yourself without running away. Be honest. Be kind. And try.
