I’m keep trying to do things like Flea. And now I’m in 2002 and it’s a little bit close!!!! Flea used his Modulus Flea Bass (or Funk Unlimited bass 4) with Lane Poor pickup and Aguilar OBP-1 2-band 18V preamp (the SAME BASS I HAVE). Well...my bass is a Modulus Funk Unlimited year 2001 with Legacy Lane Poor pickup and Aguilar OBP-1 18v preamp... the tone is very close!! Strings are half life Elixir 14077 45-105. Some infos about basses Flea used to record By The Way album are available at Flea’s Interview to Bass Player Magazine in 2002. I don’t know certainly what basses and what songs... but I tried to guess! Flea used Vox 60’s Bass to record "Cabron". I do not have acoustic basses, buuuuuuut, I played it with my NT PB 60’s bass. The PB is with GHS Precision Flatwounds strings 0.45 - 1.05. I played with smooth right hand, and the result was amazing!! I also used the PB to play “On Mercury”, cause I think he used the Vox or a 63JB on it! In both songs the PB was Volume 100% and Tone 20%. Flea used a fretless Music Man bass on “I Could Die For You”. I do not have fretless basses, buuuuuuut, I have my amazing 1994 Music Man Stingray. I played it very smooth with a crazy knob configuration (Volume 100%, Bass 70%, Mid 0%, Treble 0%), and the result was amazing. The strings are new Elixir Stainless Steel strings 0.45 - 1.05. Flea used a 63 Fender JB to play “Midnight”. I do not have a 63 JB, buuuuut, I have my good friend Fender Jazz Bass AVRI 62 year 1999, now with some Half-life (tending to old) Ernie Ball 2833 0.45-1.05 strings. The JB was Neck Volume 100%, Neck Tone 30%, Bridge Volume 100% and Bridge Tone 20%. To the rest of the songs, I used my Modulus with volume knob opened 80% (if I use it 100%, the bass notes will clip a lot...). The bass knob is around 30% and the treble is 10% only, very bright! I used pick to play "This Is The Place", “Don’t Forget Me”, “The Zephyr Song”, “Tear”, “Minor Thing”, “Warm Tape”, “Venice Queen” and “Time”. The pick is one yellow Fender 0.73mm. I decided to play "Rivers Of Avalon" and "Time", 2 b-side songs that I love so much! Effects: Boss ODB-3 bass overdrive in "Don’t Forget Me"; Songs: 00:00 – By The Way 03:40 – Universally Speaking 07:58 – This Is The Place 12:17 - Dosed 17:33 – Don’t Forget Me 22:16 – The Zephyr Song 26:09 – Can’t Stop 30:41 – I Could Die For You 33:57 - Midnight 38:54 – Throw Away Your Television 42:41 - Cabron 46:24 - Tear 51:43 – On Mercury 55:13 – Minor Thing 58:53 – Warm Tape 01:03:11 – Venice Queen 01:09:21 – Rivers Of Avalon 01:13:00 - Time ALL RIGHTS OF THE SONGS RESERVED FOR THE OWNER! THIS IS ONLY A BASS COVER. COPYRIGHTS RESERVED! I hope you liked it and enjoyed! It was really really really hard to do!! --------------- Eu continuo tentando fazer as coisas que nem o Flea. E agora estamos em 2002, e estamos bem próximos da perfeição! Flea usou seu Modulus Flea Bass (ou Modulus Funk Unlimited bass 4) com captador Lane Poor e circuito Aguilar OBP-1 2-band 18V (O MESMO BAIXO QUE EU TENHO!) Bom, meu baixo é um Modulus Funk Unlimited ano 2001 com captador Legacy Lane Poor e circuito Aguilar OBP-1 18V... o timbre é idêntico! Cordas são Elixir 14077 45-105 meia vida. Algumas informações sobre os baixos que Flea usou pra gravar o álbum By The Way estão disponíves em uma entrevista que ele deu para a Bass Player Magazine em 2002. Eu não sei exatamente quais baixos e quais músicas, mas eu tentei adivinhar! Flea usou um baixo Vox 60’ pra gravar “Cabron”. Eu não tenho esses baixos acústicos, massss, eu toquei meu NT PB 60’S. O PB está com cordas GHS Precision Flatwounds 0.45-1.05. Eu toquei suavemente, e o resultado foi maravilhoso! Eu usei também o PB pra tocar “On Mercury”, porque eu achei o timbre bem parecido com o Vox ou com um 63 JB. Em ambas músicas, volume 100% e tone 20%. Flea usou um Music Man fretless em “I Could Die For Yoy”. Eu não tenho baixos fretless, masss, eu tenho meu incrível Music Man Stingray ano 1994. Eu toquei bem suave, com uma configuração bizarra dos knobs(Volume 100%, Grave 70%, Médio 0%, Agudo 0%), e o resultado foi incrível. As cordas são novíssimas Elixir Stainless Steel strings 0.45 - 1.05. Flea usou um Fender JB 63 pra gravar “Midnight”. Eu não tenho um Fender JB 63, masss, eu tenho meu bom e velho amigo Fender Jazz Bass AVRI 62 ano 1999, agora com cordas meia vida (tendendo pra velhas) Ernie Ball 2833 0.45-1.05 strings. O JB estava com volume do braço 100% e tone 30%. Na ponte, volume 100% e tone 20%. Pro resto das músicas, usei meu Modulus com volume 80% (NÃO PODE USAR 100% SENÃO CLIPA! Grave 30% e agudo 10% (e já tava ardendo!) Usei palheta em "This Is The Place", “Don’t Forget Me”, “The Zephyr Song”, “Tear”, “Minor Thing”, “Warm Tape”, “Venice Queen” e “Time”. A palhetinha é uma Fender 0.73mm amarelinha. Eu decidi gravar "Rivers Of Avalon" e "Time", 2 b-side que eu curto pra carai!! Efeitos: Boss ODB-3 bass overdrive em "Don’t Forget Me";
