Happy 20th Birthday to BNSF's GE ES44AC and ES44DC Locomotives Looking Brand New!

The year 2026 marks 20 years since BNSF's GE ES44AC and ES44DC Locomotives were looking brand new in 2006. Both the ES44AC and ES44DC Locomotives are the first locomotive models to be apart of the GE Evolution Series, or GEVO Series, of Freight Locomotives. The locomotives were intended to replace the GE Dash 8 and GE Dash 9 Series of Locomotives in freight service, even though a vast majority of Dash 8s and Dash 9s can still be seen today on local freights and occasional mainline freights. Both the ES44AC and ES44DC Locomotives would originally be painted in the H2 paint scheme complete with the cigar band emblem on the front of the locomotives. However, later units would lack the H2 paint scheme in favor of the brand new H3 paint scheme, which is complete with the BNSF Swoosh lettering and has even earned itself the nickname "Nike Swoosh". The first unit to ever receive the H3 paint scheme would be BNSF ES44DC 7695, which had the swoosh lettering in yellow paint and could be seen along the front, back, and sides of the locomotive. Unfortunately, the biggest downside was that the letters were really hard to see trackside, and so the railroad decided that all ES44AC and ES44DC Locomotives should have the swoosh lettering in black paint so it was more visible to see. Since then, many ES44AC and ES44DC Locomotives have been wearing the swoosh lettering in black paint with the exception of BNSF 7695, which still wears the swoosh lettering in yellow paint. With the arrival of the ES44AC and ES44DC Locomotives, most Dash 8s and Dash 9s were either repainted or retired, even though many of them still wear the old paint schemes that they had during the 1990s and the early to mid-2000s. Since then, the popularity of the ES44AC and ES44DC Locomotives has gone on to include future models of the GE GEVO Series such as the ES44C4, the ET44ACH, and the ET44C4. The ES44C4s would be delivered to BNSF between 2009 and 2014 while the ET44ACH and ET44C4 Locomotives would be delivered beginning in 2015 before continuing all the way to the present day. For this video, I have decided to include various clips that I have filmed of the GE ES44AC and ES44DC Locomotives in action, which were the first locomotive models ever built for the GE GEVO Series.
