The Quiet Loss of Choice | Isabella Thompson | TEDxNewtons Grove Youth

In my talk, I explore how decision-making is being slowly outsourced — to things like technology, trends, and even the people around us — often without us even noticing. Rather than arguing that technology or society is inherently bad, I focus on how easily we can lose our ability to think critically, sit with uncertainty, and choose for ourselves when convenience takes over. To me, this will be the scariest outcome that the future could look like. My name is Isabella Thompson, and I am a Grade 12 student at Newton’s Grove School. When I think about the future and what the world will look like in the next 10 years, I question how people growing up in the next generation will form a sense of identity in a world shaped by constant influence.
