Beginning in the early 1800s after the North Parish separated from Harwich and Incorporated in 1803. Starting at that time Brewster was divided into several school districts each with its own one room schoolhouse. It wasn't until 1925 when a new school was built on property along the Kings Highway when the small single room School houses were combined into a four-room Schoolhouse, serving grades 1 - 8. It was expanded upon for several years until the town joined the regional school district and turned the building over to the Town as the Town Offices. Since then two newer elementary schools were constructed. On display are school books from the 18 and 1900s, photographs, classroom ephemera, a 1800s classroom room box made by the creative artist Donald Doane, the former owner of the General Store. Costumes and learning tools used throughout Brewster educational history. Even with its rural location the town of Brewster kept up with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts educational mandates which are duly recorded in our historic town of Brewster school reports also on display. Also recognized in this exhibit are the two private schools known as Brewster Academy which opened in 1835 and the Sea Pines School for Girls which opened in 1906
