How many dreams have been silenced simply because they belonged to a girl? In this powerful TEDx talk, Jaya Kala Rai explores how gender inequality limits girls’ lives and why society must rethink its beliefs to help women rebuild confidence. Drawing from her personal journey and global statistics, she highlights the urgent need for equality and empowerment. She shows how empowering women strengthens families, communities, and society, and calls on everyone to rise together for a fairer world. Jaya is a dedicated public service professional committed to gender equality. Growing up in a small village in Nepal, she strongly believes in building a more equitable world. Over the past ten years, she has worked across various ministries, resolving citizenship issues faced by women in administrative offices and supporting female migrant domestic workers at the Department of Foreign Employment. Rooted in a diverse community, she respects all values, cultures, and belief systems, yet firmly believes that no tradition should justify gender-based discrimination. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy at the International University of Japan, combining local experience with global perspectives to rethink, rebuild, and rise together.
