Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade (2003) Composed by Yuka Tsujiyoko Arranged by Max Rosen Video Editor: Eli Obus https://www.eliobus.com Audio Engineer: Bill Rouse https://billrouseaudio.com Ninian Suite is a collection of three pieces–Reminiscence, Shattered Life, and Anguish–which represent the eponymous character from Fire Emblem (2003). The music is scored for Solo Celesta, accompanied by woodwinds, string orchestra, and harp. The character Ninian is a taciturn dancer with unusual physical characteristics and some empathic abilities. Her dances invigorate her friends during their tribulations. Within the context of gameplay, Ninian’s dancing allows for a character to move for a second time on a given turn. Many avid Fire Emblem players find her to be as valuable as a chess player would find the ability to move a Queen twice in one play. Reminiscence is Ninian’s primary theme in which the celesta serves as a music box accompanying her dancing. The celesta begins playing a motif unaccompanied before the orchestra repeats with an arpeggiated harp continuo beneath it. The original piece is designed to loop indefinitely underneath dialogue. Shattered Life is representative of the music box being broken when a tragedy strikes. It follows the same format as Reminiscence and uses the same motif but at a slower tempo with multiple pauses. Unlike Reminiscence, it does have a clearly defined start and finish. The moment when the celesta ends and the orchestra takes over is representative of a final breath. Anguish plays as the characters mourn in the aftermath of that tragedy. The celesta returns, representing Ninian’s brother, Nils, but never has a melody. Instead, it plays underneath the orchestra, as Nils is one of many characters mourning. The ending of the piece serves as a clear fade out. #njgso #vgm #orchestra #fireemblem #fireemblemblazingblade
