I wanted to install Raptor Lights on my 5th Gen 2020 4Runner. There are a lot of videos on Youtube about how to install Raptor lights but I wasn’t able to find anyone who installed both a RELAY (required by the switch manufacturer) AND a dash mounted switch. I also wanted to run IGNITION power to the relay/switch so that I couldn’t accidentally leave the raptor lights on after the car was off. I ran up to my friend Stefan’s house for some help with the installation. He owns a company called THOR (https://thorav.us/). They manufacture LED Video walls and Stefan has a lot of electronics knowledge and experience so I asked him to help me with the install project and explain what was happening electronically in our lighting circuit. This install is on a 5th Gen 4Runner but the concept is similar if you have a Tacoma, JEEP Wrangler, or any other vehicle that you are looking to install accessory lighting on. Our install cuts NO factory wires and is completely removable without any damage to the vehicle (aside from cutting a rubber grommet to fead wires into the cab). We chose to pull the power from the fuse panel in the dash. This COULD be pulled from the INJ fuse in the engine bay but on the 2020/21 4Runners, that fuse location isn’t ideal. Placing an Add-a-fuse in that location prevents closure of the fuse panel cover. We felt, running the main relay power into the cab and using the Ignition No. 2 fuse location would prevent exposing our fuses to the elements and would also make for a cleaner install (no cutting, trimming, or damaging any factory components).
