Before Fauna, while still settling into the new world that followed the fall of the Glimmerlight, RavenHand discovered that its Blue Crystal could be attuned beyond memory and subroutines. Living in the northern reaches alongside other Canadian Sagegazers, RavenHand observed the Aurora Borealis as a living harmonic - light behaving like sound, bending and resolving in slow, patient arcs. Through careful alignment, RavenHand used its Blue Crystal to receive these auroral frequencies and translate them into voltage and tone, which RavenHand then guided into its synthesizers. What emerged were sounds that softened the interior weather of those who listened. . . . RavenHand named the resulting cassette Borealis. It circulated quietly but widely, finding its way into New Age bookshops, yoga studios, and massage parlors throughout the Patchoulilight. Humans and Sagegazers alike reported that the cassette dampened their irritability, their breath slowed, and tension released. In Sagegazer understanding, Borealis marked an early recognition that Earth could still offer refuge, if one only learned how to listen. . . . The Sagegazer knows that calm is not an absence of disturbance, but a frequency that gently overrides it.
