SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Ismail Haniya, Hamas leader: "He (Sheikh Yassin) was the struggling Sheikh - the Sheikh of Palestine - the founder of the Islamic Resistance Movement - he was the address of this nation's dignity and the dignity of the Palestinian people - he lived the struggle and lived for the cause of the Palestinian people and for Jerusalem and Al Aqsa mosque - this is the moment he wished for - the Sheikh of Palestine - he's a martyr but the Zionist enemy must understand the Palestinians will turn into a volcano of hell in the face of this aggressive enemy - the martyrdom of Sheikh Yassin will bring life to the Palestinian people, to Palestine and Jerusalem and to this whole nation." 4. Sheikh Yassin is the personal executioner of hundreds and hundreds of Israelis who have lost their lives in terrorist activities. Israel knows that there might be some tension but in the long run we have served the cause of peace and security in our region." 15. He walks away STORYLINE: Hamas has warned of harsh retaliation for Israel's killing of the militant group's spiritual leader, Sheik Ahmed Yassin. Abdel Aziz Rantisi said it would be an "open war" and Ismail Haniya, said " Palestinians will turn into a volcano of hell in the face of this aggressive enemy. " Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia also denounced Israel's killing of Hamas leader Ahmed Yassin, accusing the Israelis of trying to escalate violence with the Palestinians. But an Israeli Government spokesman, Avi Pazner, said that by killing Yassin, they had "eliminated the worst threat to peace and security in the Middle East."
