These Sloppy Joes are tangy yet sweet, from the slow cook on the veges. The unique sauce blends with the meat and veges to make the perfect Sloppy Joe. You'll want to double, or even triple this recipe to have some to freeze for a quick and delicious meal later. This recipe has been in my family over 60 years, that I know of. Recipe: 1 lb. ground beef 1 green pepper, diced 1 onion, diced 1/2 cup ketchup 1 tablespoon vinegar 2 tablespoons brown sugar 2 tablespoons lemon juice 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard (or 1 teaspoon yellow mustard) 1/2 cup water Directions: Brown ground beef on medium heat (drain if necessary), and put into a large cooking pot. While the beef is browning, make the sauce. Combine the remaining ingredients (except peppers and onions), and whisk together until smooth. Set aside until beef is done. After you add the browned beef to the other pot, add the sauce. Simmer while the veges are cooking. In the pan you browned the beef, add 2 tablespoons vegetable or olive oil, and 2 tablespoons butter. Saute diced onions and green peppers on a low heat until they're soft. Once the onions and peppers are soft, add them to the beef and sauce. Cover and simmer 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. Serve and enjoy! 0:00 0:00 - 0:07 Intro 0:08 - 0:09 Ingredients 0:10 - 0:21 Start browning ground beef 0:22 - 1:00 Make sauce 1:01 - 1:07 Beef cook check 1:08 - 1:35 Dice green pepper 1:36 - 1:49 Dice onion 1:50 - 2:07 Drain grease and beef into pot 2:08 - 2:17 Combine beef and sauce 2:18 - 3:30 Saute veges and add to meat sauce 3:31 - 3:53 Simmering/cooking sauce 3:54 - 4:28 Serve and enjoy finished sauce 4:29 - 4:32 Thank you for watching (3)
