Amtrak City of New Orleans/Tennessee Sidequest 🎸

Summer 2024 This adventure began with a flight from Philadelphia to Nashville. I explored Nashville for the day, then took a Greyhound bus to Memphis. I spent the night in the Memphis suburbs in Northern Mississippi. The next day I explored a bit of the Delta region into Tunica County, the National Civil Rights Museum at the Loraine Hotel, rode an e-bike over the Big River Crossing into Arkansas, visited Memphis’ legendary Bass Pro Shops Pyramid, ate a half-rack of dry rub ribs at Central BBQ, and grabbed a pint at Wiseacre Brewing Co. I then made my way to Memphis Central Station to wait for my overnight train to Chicago. The station had been renovated and attached to a fancy hotel/cocktail bar which made waiting there a very nice time. Eventually, my Amtrak City of New Orleans line train arrived, and I rode through the night passing through NW Tennessee, Kentucky, and nearly the entire length of Illinois until I arrived in Chicago the next morning. Once in Chicago, I rode Metra up to Rogers Park and hung out in the city for a couple days.
