Part 2 of budget build full suspension ebike - it's finished!! In this episode we wrap the battery to get rid of the "I'm a battery, look I'm blue" color, with some matte "carbon" vinyl look which will go better with the aesthetics of the build. Next I made an oopsie and accidentally had the battery slide off the frame while assembling, thankfully my 3D printed box protected the battery, but it broke and to make one of these it takes about 30 hours to print, not happy about that. While I was reprinting I decided to change the model a bit and give myself about 1mm more space for the vinyl wrap because I was cutting things a bit too close with the tolerances. Unfortunately I was having the hardest time getting another good print, after about 20 hours the print would fail in one way or another. I grew tired of remaking this print, so I thought maybe it's time to try a more forgiving nozzle - 1mm, I made another noob mistake and tried to change out the nozzle with the extruder cold, this is not a good idea and I twisted out the nozzle breaking it off. You're supposed to heat it up because the plastic stuck in the nozzle is like JB weld and it will not move. Lesson learned. I got a new heater block and I redid the brings in much quicker time with the 1mm nozzle, they don't look as good aesthetically, but that was expected, it did turn a 30 hour print into a 6 hour print though. I ended up going with two of my earlier prints that I could salvage and using the thicker ones as backup. Now it was on to finishing up the actual bike build because I spent so much time (2 weeks at least) just trying to get the 3D print to work. Everything went smoothly except for the motor controller connection, the phase wire colors didn't match up! This was the first time I have ever encountered anything like this and after about 30 minutes I found the right combo for the correct rotation of the motor (forward). After that it was smooth sailing and I could finally take the bike out for a ride! This bike is very smooth and comfortable, I think it looks unique and very cool and for such little money it's a great build. I suspect about 30 miles of range, and top speed was 25 (28-30 with pedaling). Not bad at all, it's all you really need in an ebike, my only gripe is the controller's "smooth" application of power, but that's just because I'm used to very powerful and aggressive bikes. You can't expect much in this price range and this bike delivers and more! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ⛧ \\ Table of Contents: \\ ⛧ 00:00 - Intro \ Battery 01:25 - 3D Print Issues 04:28 - Build Assembly 07:11 - Wiring 09:52 - Finishing Touches 10:51 - Ride! \ Outro ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ⛧ \\ Insta: / htll_official Please send me memes and anything cyberpunk/tech/dystopian related ⛧ \\ Music: XYFΞRΞX - / @xyferex If you make any synthwave/dark/cyberpunk music yourself and would like it featured on the channel please send it to me! ⛧ \\ Merch: https://shop.spreadshirt.com/indstrkt Please only buy something if you really like the designs! The Frame This is one of the cheapest (it may be THE cheapest) full suspension mountain bikes available. It's a Hyper "Shocker" sold at Walmart. Of course you're not going to get premium parts here, but what do you expect for such an incredible price tag? 2. The Motor One of the least expensive 1000W hub motor kits available, no frills, no display, just press the on button and go! 3. The Battery Again fitting with this build, one of the least expensive batteries I could find (that would also fit the frame) It's a 48V 14Ah Lithium Ion pack. 3. The Mods 3D designed and printed battery box, this was the main challenge of the build and it came out pretty great! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ⛧ 2022 High Tech \\ Low Life | - Cyberpunk - Projects - DIY - Art - Tech - Modding - ⛧
