My boyfriend Andrew and I travelled to Isla Mujeres and Tulum from San Diego during the week of Sept 8-12. The whole Quintana Roo state is open for any tourists right now, and since I just quit my full-time job, we decided to go and celebrate! Prior to going, we did lots of research and watched some YouTube videos to get an idea of what it's like in that area. We found out that public beaches were all closed so the only way you could really hang out at the beach is if you were to book a hotel or resort with a private beach, but the day before we landed in Mexico, the public beaches opened. Still, we felt that Mexico was very safe and everyone was wearing their masks as instructed. Hand sanitizer was available everywhere and the workers there also took your temperatures before entry into any establishment. In Isla Mujeres specifically, social distancing was really easy because it is a small island and not too many tourists were there. We even witnessed people getting called out by security workers when they didn't have their masks on. Staying at a 12-room boutique hotel also helped. We encountered maybe 2 other guests while we stayed there? We knew that this area of Mexico was definitely being safe, but to be extra cautious, we did try to steer away from crowds or denser areas. Stay tuned for the Tulum vlog coming up soon! 📱instagram.com/thewustew 🏠 Boutique hotel we stayed at: Casa De Los Suenos: https://hotelcasasuenos.com ☀️ Weather: 70s and 80s, and humid! 🚶Transportation: Since we were only here for a day and a half, we mainly took taxis (100 pesos each ride) and walked. If we stayed longer, we would have rented a golf cart to get around. 🎵 Music in this video: "Beach House" by Hoax "Hey Girl" by Topher Mohr and Alex Alena "Onion" by Lukrembo 📽️ What I Use to Edit/Film: Sony Cybershot DSC-RX100 iPhone 11 iMovie
