Packed snow in Lower Dry Creek DATE OF RECORDING: December, 29, 2024 DESCRIPTION: Dry Creek is one of the most unique advanced trails I've come across at any ski resort. Located off the High Five lift, which is one of my favorite pods on the mountain, Dry Creek hails as the crown jewel of the pod. The run is a gully that runs right between two massive rock-bands, but it's plenty spacious and not that steep. The center of the gully is the easiest but you can traverse skier's left as I did for more interesting lines, the more left you go, the crazier the lines you can find. After the upper portion, Dry Creek filters into a really nice set of trees in the high-five pod which can be home to some really nice, smooth, creamy snow. From there, you follow a natural half-pipe all the way back to the lift. If you go beyond the lift, you'll find Lower Dry Creek, another really fun gully with plenty of fun little features to jump off. Lower Dry Creek is usually a bit more congested and as I found on my run, there were a bunch of people and getting around them required me to straightline part of the gully. I still prefer doing Lower Dry Creek over some of the other groomers to get down to The Mill. Dry Creek is such a phenomenal run, and is one I recommend to all advanced skiers at Mammoth. Definitely wanna get back and get a recording on a bluebird powder day and ski some of the even crazier lines further skier's left.
