Port Of Ngqura A new deep-water port of Ngqura is currently under development just 7 kilometers outside of Port Elizabeth. A combination of expert management and state-of-the-art equipment could see Ngqura container terminal (NCT) in South Africa positioning itself as a major container hub for sub-Saharan Africa. Ngqura is positioned as South Africas flagship terminal. Its projected end state capacity is two million TEUs. Currently the terminal boasts a capacity of 800 000 TEUs and by 2015 this will have increased to 1.5 million TEUs. The Port is ideally situated to serve as Transshipment facility for traffic from East, South America & West African markets. The port is capable of serving post-Panamax dry and liquid bulkers and the new generation of cellular container ships.
