On November 1st this year the Citizenship in Society Merit Badge was released by the BSA. After many years of development, the fourth citizenship merit badge is truly remarkable. Bringing the BSA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) into view for scouts to learn about others around the world. Many think that DEI is too political in nature for scouts. Not covering this or avoiding this subject makes scouting not prepared. The Scout Oath and Law are living principles that enable the scout to handle the future. This merit badge has no printed manual among other unique features. Only the requirements online PDF. • This is an independent research and small group discussion/review type MB. • This will not be available at Summer Camp or online MB academies. • Currently, 11 requirements are listed to complete the MB. 📊 Poll (Dec. 1, 2021): This month the BSA put out the new Citizenship in Society Merit Badge.
