Colombia keeps raising the bar. Experience pure adventure with us as we get deeper into the vibrant green heart of this wonderful country! In this episode of our Pan-American overland journey, we take on some of the most epic 4x4 tracks we’ve ever driven — through remote mountain backroads, into the crater of the dormant Volcán Machín, and across thousands of the world’s tallest palm trees. After running errands and trying local food in lively Ibagué, we leave the city behind and head into the countryside. What starts as a simple drive quickly turns into muddy tracks, rainstorms, unexpected obstacles, and a roadblock just before nightfall. But once again, Colombian hospitality shines through. Here, in a remote corner of the country, incredibly generous local people come to our rescue. Instead of heading to the crowded Cocora Valley, we choose a remote backroad connecting Toche to Salento — and find ourselves surrounded by tens of thousands of wax palms at over 3,000 meters elevation. An unforgettable landscape that feels almost unreal.
