This video is a recording of a live virtual lecture given by Dr Chris Cleal as part of the two-day Northern Energy Transition Conference in April 2021, jointly held by the Durham Energy Institute (Durham University) and the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers (NEIMME). Lecture Synopsis: In this lecture Chris gives an overview of the Carboniferous Coal Measures and what the plant fossils they contain can tell us about the development of the coal forests that formed them. Speaker Biography: Dr Chris Cleal, National Museums Wales For over 40 years, Chris Cleal been working on the relationship between Palaeozoic vegetation, climate and landscape. He has worked at the Saarbrücken Mining School (Germany), the Nature Conservancy Council (part of their Geological Conservation Review Unit) and for the last 30 years National Museum Wales (Cardiff).
