Annette M. Lane, RN, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Disciplines, Athabasca University. Her areas of expertise include older adults with mental illness and families. Together with Marlette Reed, Annette presents locally, nationally and internationally on issues related to aging, transitions and making meaning. Marlette B. Reed, BEd, MA, is a community chaplain in Calgary, AB. Her expertise lies in pastoral care, including almost a decade in palliative care chaplaincy. She also teaches sessionally at a couple of post-secondary institutions in Calgary. Marlette & Annette have co-authored the book: "Making Meaning in Older Age". Making meaning in life can be challenging at any age. However, making and sustaining meaning in advancing age can be especially difficult due to physiological changes, declining health, and multiple losses.
