Salvador Espasa - "Lamentos bajo el mar" for Solo Flute

He has premiered over 200 new works by Spanish composers and was a member of the Círculo Group in Spain from its formation in 1983 to 2003, where they perform and record contemporary pieces. Lamentos bajo el Mar, “Lamenting under the Sea”, is a contemporary piece written for solo flute. It showcases different modern techniques on the flute, such as singing and playing the flute at the same time and exploring the different timbres and resonance of sound that the flute can make. In this piece, Espasa urges the performer and even the listeners to imagine and create their own story of Lamenting under the Sea.
