Here's former North Tonawanda great Steve Rusin, talking about his football career and being a member of the 1979 Section VI Federation championship team. That Lumberjack team beat Orchard Park, 17-14, in overtime at Rich Stadium (now Ralph Wilson Stadium, home of the Buffalo Bills) and went 9-0-1 that season. The tie came against Sweet Home High School. Rusin did this Zoom interview from his Boise, Idaho home. After graduating in 1980, Rusin began and continued his college and military careers at the Air Force Academy. He spent 20 years in the Air Force and the past 17 years as a pilot with Southwest Airlines. Unfortunately Rusin has not yet been inducted in the NT Football Hall of Fame, even though he possesses the necessary credentials and qualifications. Several teammates from the 1979 team have been inducted. This is just one of several former player feature profiles on the North Tonawanda Football Hall of Fame YouTube channnel. Many thanks to all those who have contributed to this film preservation project, including Winter Jewelry, Rick Winter, Jonathan Mohr, Dave Barrett, John Batt, MJ Bowman, Ron Pazik, Tim Duerr, Shawn Breeden, Chris Perna, Dennis Grinnell, Henry Moderacki, Tony Sukiennik, John Dunnigan, Keith Miranto, Tony Sukennik, Pat Campbell, Richard Potts, Robert & Barbara Sy, Tom Tussing, Todd Warmington, Joe Wawrzynek, Mike Fronczak, Dick Wrazin, Erik Zorich, Peter & Lynn Sarratori, Ed Helinski and others.
