In 2013, Hi-Collar opened its doors in East Village, New York, also known as Little Japan. It started as a quaint and popular Kaiseki cafe, nestled in the heart of the neighborhood. However, in 2019, it expanded significantly by merging with the legendary New York izakaya, Sakagura, located right across the street. This expansion transformed Hi-Collar into an iconic destination in Little Japan, offering a larger restaurant space and a wider variety of Japanese cuisine and beverages. Known for its authentic Japanese ambiance and flavors, Hi-Collar operates as a traditional Kaiseki cafe during the day, serving various types of coffee and Japanese home-cooked dishes such as Japanese-style pancakes, and assorted sando. After a brief break in the afternoon, it transforms into a Japanese Izakaya in the evening, offering an extensive selection of Japanese spirits like whisky, sake, and shochu, along with appetizers and small plates. 🐝 Pro tips: During lunchtime, if you want to enjoy a quick coffee and dessert, I recommend sitting at the bar where you can watch the coffee being brewed right in front of you. Since there is usually a long wait on weekends, reservations are essential! However, on weekdays, you can often walk in without a reservation and avoid long waiting times. 📍Hi-Collar 231 E 9th St, New York, NY 10003 LUNCH 11:30am-3:30pm WED—SAT | 11:30am-5:00pm SUN DINNER 5:30pm-10:00pm TUE | 5:30pm-11:00pm WED&THU | 5:30pm-12:00am FRI&SAT ⏰ Google, resy
