NYCT B49 Bus Route: 2022 New Flyer XD40 7943, 2018 New Flyer XD40 7649 @ E 16 St & Sheepshead Bay Rd

Taken on 9/10/22. Footage of 2018 New Flyer XD40 7649 and 2022 New Flyer XD40 7943 bunched together on the B49 at East 16th Street & Sheepshead Bay Road. Both buses were headed towards Manhattan Beach. Flatbush, Ulmer Park, and Fresh Pond are some of several depot's receiving these new Xcelsiors. These buses have a full roof enclosure, whereas previous XD40 deliveries have only had them halfway. As a result, these XD40s look similar to the XDE40s, but these are not hybrid buses. Additionally, the back doors on the new XD40s slide outward instead of opening outward. Along with the 2021 XD40s, the 2022 XD40s will replace the remaining Orion VII NG Hybrids. Bus 7649 was formerly in the SBS scheme, and operated mainly on the B46 SBS route, until the route's conversion to articulated buses in early 2020. Thanks for viewing!
