The Best Way to Heal Chronic Pain - (And what keeps you STUCK) As someone who has overcome more than a decade of chronic pain, I've made a ton of mistakes. I don't want you to make them so I am making this video. When healing from chronic pain, it is totally normal to want to understand WHY you are suffering. This curiosity ultimately helps the healing process. However, when taken to the extreme, it can keep you stuck. The reality is that your body is impacted by all aspects of your health. How you feel, how you think, how you move, how you connect with people, and so many other factors all play a role in your physical health. This is why there are so many different approaches out there and why many of them work for many people. But it's also what can keep us stuck if we focus on one aspect to the exclusion of the others. And this especially keeps you stuck if you jump from one approach to the next in hopes to alleviate uncertainty, to define a "one correct answer," or find a "root cause." Imagine healing is like a garden and each aspect of your health is a plant. If you pour all the water in your watering can on one plant but none of the others, you end up with a crappy garden. One over-watered plant and the rest under-watered. They all end up dying and none end up thriving. So imagine doing this with your body. You focus only on the physical, for example. And in the process, you unknowingly create anxiety, which then impacts the body by causing tension. Or you focus on processing old traumas, which helps to regulate emotions but keeps you in a cycle of "needing to fix" and waiting until "x is fixed" until you can be happy and feel good. Or you do meditation, which helps you calm your nervous system and change perspective, but you still have mobility restrictions that would be better addressed through movement. You see when we put the pressure on one approach to "do it all," then we lose out on the benefit of other approaches and we risk rendering the approach we are using ineffective. Instead, if you let go of the need to have the "correct answer" or "root cause" and instead embrace a truly holistic approach that uses multiple lenses simultaneously, you'll create a healing environment for your body.
